The Marine Stewardship Council, the brainchild of the corporations Unilever and WWF, not only gives its ‘blue tick’ to fisheries using unsustainable fishing methods (all industrial fishing is unsustainable) but it also ignores slave and child labour stating that their main mission is environmental, and their eco-label makes no claims about social conditions.
⬆️ Ocean Rebellion reimagines the classic French nursery rhyme ‘Il Était un Petit Navire’. In our version a ‘dead sailor’ is revealed in a giant Petit Navire tuna can (Petit Navire is owned and operated by global tuna giant Thai Union), changing the ending of the tale – the young sailor cannot be saved, he is the victim of forced labour and there are no fish left to jump into the boat (in the original tale he is saved from a hungry crew when fish jump from water into the boat – shows how old the nursery rhyme is!).
