Estes combust\u00edveis s\u00e3o uma importante fonte de carbono negro mortal no \u00c1rctico, e t\u00eam estado ligados a desastres mar\u00edtimos causados por falhas de motores como Wakashio nas Maur\u00edcias e a fugas de combust\u00edvel t\u00f3xico dos dep\u00f3sitos de armazenamento.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sophie Miller, da Ocean Rebellion, disse&nbsp;<strong>\"A cont\u00ednua liberta\u00e7\u00e3o de carbono negro de combust\u00edveis sujos est\u00e1 a destruir o nosso ecossistema. O gelo marinho \u00e1rctico, os glaciares, o permafrost e o manto de gelo da Gronel\u00e2ndia est\u00e3o todos a encolher rapidamente devido ao aquecimento global do efeito albedo, directamente causado pela polui\u00e7\u00e3o de carbono negro do HFO e VLSFO sujos. Isto leva a consequ\u00eancias ambientais letais como a subida do n\u00edvel do mar e padr\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticos extremos, sentidos na sua maioria por pessoas vulner\u00e1veis no Sul global e desdobrando-se no contexto da crise clim\u00e1tica do \u00c1rctico\".<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Os \u00f3leos pesados e o Carbono Negro estar\u00e3o na agenda do PPR 8, onde os Estados membros da OMI t\u00eam a oportunidade de tomar medidas r\u00e1pidas e eficazes para reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de carbono negro no \u00c1rctico. Os Estados membros da OMI devem chegar a acordo sobre regulamentos para garantir que a ind\u00fastria naval que opera no \u00c1rctico ou nas suas imedia\u00e7\u00f5es passe a utilizar combust\u00edveis destilados, tais como gas\u00f3leo ou gas\u00f3leo naval, e impor que os navios utilizem filtros de part\u00edculas, ou se desloquem para outras fontes de energia ou meios de propuls\u00e3o mais limpos. Os trabalhos para desenvolver uma norma global de emiss\u00e3o de carbono negro para a navega\u00e7\u00e3o devem ser calendarizados imediatamente.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sophie acrescentou&nbsp;<strong>\"Enquanto fazemos a transi\u00e7\u00e3o para combust\u00edveis sem carbono e outros m\u00e9todos de propuls\u00e3o, precisamos de acabar com as mortes por polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica, reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de carbono negro e aumentar o custo dos combust\u00edveis convencionais atrav\u00e9s da aplica\u00e7\u00e3o do princ\u00edpio do poluidor-pagador. A Ocean Rebellion acredita que a OMI precisa de legislar para eliminar todos os subs\u00eddios aos combust\u00edveis poluentes, e para assegurar que os fabricantes de combust\u00edveis DIGAM A VERDADE e forne\u00e7am uma lista honesta dos seus ingredientes para qualquer combust\u00edvel produzido. Isto tem sido poss\u00edvel em parte porque n\u00e3o existe uma regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o legal formal da qualidade dos combust\u00edveis, e devido \u00e0s normas ISO patrocinadas pela ind\u00fastria\".<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Rob Higgs tamb\u00e9m da Ocean Rebellion acrescenta&nbsp;<strong>\"Para al\u00e9m do nosso trabalho na transi\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica da navega\u00e7\u00e3o, estamos a lutar contra um \u00faltimo esfor\u00e7o de vala para salvar o m\u00e1ximo poss\u00edvel do gelo marinho do \u00c1rctico - estamos literalmente a lutar pelas nossas vidas, dados os efeitos de feedback inerentes ao facto de a calota de gelo do \u00c1rctico perder a sua capacidade de reflectir o calor de volta ao espa\u00e7o - e isto significa proibir o carbono negro do crescente n\u00famero de navios que utilizam as rotas do \u00c1rctico. Assim, estamos a pressionar uma mudan\u00e7a para destilados para o \u00c1rctico e \u00e1guas pr\u00f3ximas do \u00c1rctico como uma medida imediata a curto prazo.
