Os marinheiros e os habitantes da costa da Cornualha realizaram esta semana uma manifesta\u00e7\u00e3o contra os cruzeiros mar\u00edtimos poluentes no porto de Falmouth.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A ac\u00e7\u00e3o foi precursora do lan\u00e7amento oficial da Ocean Rebellion, no dia 19 de Agosto, e contou com mais de 40 manifestantes que se deslocaram \u00e0 \u00e1gua com bandeiras e bandeirolas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Os manifestantes projectaram ent\u00e3o filmes e slogans no casco do navio, incluindo Fuck This Ship, Sort your Ship out! e Turn The Tide, para aumentar a sensibiliza\u00e7\u00e3o para o impacto ambiental dos cruzeiros mar\u00edtimos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

O grupo de activistas de base que se autodenomina Ocean Rebellion, prometeu uma escalada de actividades em todo o mundo para proteger o nosso patrim\u00f3nio oce\u00e2nico comum.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Um porta-voz do grupo diz: \"O combust\u00edvel que este navio queima \u00e9 100 vezes mais poluente do que o combust\u00edvel que permitimos nas estradas. Isto est\u00e1 a ter um enorme impacto ambiental n\u00e3o s\u00f3 nos oceanos e nos seus ecossistemas, mas tamb\u00e9m na qualidade do ar nas comunidades costeiras visitadas por estes navios. Cada apartamento deste navio de cruzeiro tem cem vezes mais emiss\u00f5es do que o equivalente m\u00e9dio europeu em terra. S\u00e3o 380,309kg de CO2 por ano - \u00e9 o peso de um avi\u00e3o Boeing 747\".<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Um residente local preocupado disse \"mesmo durante os dias mais quentes de encerramento, o navio estava a bombear toneladas de fumo para a atmosfera local. Conseguia-se v\u00ea-lo preto no c\u00e9u e cheir\u00e1-lo no ar\".<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Quando em marcha lenta no porto este navio produz mais polui\u00e7\u00e3o de enxofre do que 1.200.000 carros ou 30.000 cami\u00f5es.
(utilizando os valores do 3\u00ba GEE da OMI para o ODM em 2012 p\u00e1gina 253, e os valores dos dados de emiss\u00f5es dos autom\u00f3veis de Ambiente de Transporte\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Em termos de polui\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica, este navio em marcha lenta no porto produz diariamente o equivalente a 226 cami\u00f5es com emiss\u00f5es di\u00e1rias (fonte: Dados EU MRV da MV do mundo, pressupondo uma quilometragem anual de cami\u00f5es de 100.000 milhas consumindo 30 L de gas\u00f3leo por milha)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

O oceano \u00e9 como o cora\u00e7\u00e3o humano, bombeando oxig\u00e9nio e vida em redor do corpo do nosso planeta, fornecendo metade do oxig\u00e9nio que respiramos, ciclando \u00e1gua doce, fornecendo nutrientes e controlando os nossos sistemas meteorol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

O oceano est\u00e1 entre n\u00f3s e os piores impactos da ruptura clim\u00e1tica, no entanto, est\u00e1 sob grave amea\u00e7a de ruptura clim\u00e1tica. Para o oceano, alguns dos impactos mais graves s\u00e3o: aquecimento da superf\u00edcie do mar, aquecimento oce\u00e2nico, desoxigena\u00e7\u00e3o, acidifica\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Os navios de cruzeiro de luxo emitem 10 vezes mais polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica do que todos os autom\u00f3veis da Europa (Transportes e ambiente, 2019)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A ind\u00fastria naval, incluindo a ind\u00fastria de cruzeiros de luxo, n\u00e3o paga impostos sobre o combust\u00edvel e o offshoring e a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de bandeiras de conveni\u00eancia assegura o pagamento de poucos outros impostos, pelo que est\u00e1 quase totalmente isenta de impostos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

O transporte mar\u00edtimo contribui significativamente para a polui\u00e7\u00e3o do ar com \u00f3xidos de enxofre (SOx) e \u00f3xidos de azoto (NOx) contribuindo 9% e 18-30% respectivamente para a polui\u00e7\u00e3o global do ar e conduzindo a problemas de sa\u00fade humana e ambiental tais como doen\u00e7as respirat\u00f3rias e card\u00edacas, eutrofiza\u00e7\u00e3o e nitrifica\u00e7\u00e3o<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
