Estes lobistas est\u00e3o determinados a fazer uma lavagem verde ao GNL atrav\u00e9s da sua plataforma de marionetas <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SEA-LNG.ORG.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>G\u00c1S NATURAL LIQUEFEITO (GNL) - <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ID-64-%E2%80%93-FUMES-ships-Report-A4-60037-FV.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>os factos<br><\/strong><\/a>O GNL \u00e9 um combust\u00edvel f\u00f3ssil que, quando extra\u00eddo, transportado e queimado como combust\u00edvel mar\u00edtimo, derrama metano para a atmosfera - um perigoso g\u00e1s de aquecimento global que est\u00e1 acabado <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/the-climate-implications-of-using-lng-as-a-marine-fuel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">80-vezes mais aquecimento clim\u00e1tico<\/a> a curto prazo do que o di\u00f3xido de carbono.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Painel Intergovernamental sobre Altera\u00e7\u00f5es Clim\u00e1ticas (IPCC) da ONU <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">identificado<\/a> cortes r\u00e1pidos das emiss\u00f5es de metano como uma das principais prioridades, a fim de limitar o aquecimento global a cerca de 1,5\u00b0C o mais pr\u00f3ximo poss\u00edvel. Os IPCC's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00faltimo relat\u00f3rio<\/a> A concentra\u00e7\u00e3o na mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o do clima torna claro que o g\u00e1s f\u00f3ssil sob a forma de GNL n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o para a descarboniza\u00e7\u00e3o da navega\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contrariamente ao que a ci\u00eancia do clima exige, as empresas de navega\u00e7\u00e3o e portu\u00e1rias t\u00eam andado a todo o vapor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cma-cgm.com\/news\/3571\/cma-cgm-to-dedicate-six-new-lng-powered-vessels-to-service-u-s-customers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a investir fortemente<\/a> em GNL f\u00f3ssil, alegando que o combust\u00edvel reduzir\u00e1 os seus impactos ambientais e a polui\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica. Existem atualmente mais de 785 novos navios de carga encomendados a n\u00edvel mundial, sendo que mais de 400 est\u00e3o a ser constru\u00eddos para funcionar com GNL f\u00f3ssil sujo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Queimar mais GNL f\u00f3ssil a bordo das embarca\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e9 um desastre na constru\u00e7\u00e3o do nosso planeta. S\u00f3 iria aumentar as emiss\u00f5es de metano das naves, que j\u00e1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/OurWork\/Environment\/Pages\/Fourth-IMO-Greenhouse-Gas-Study-2020.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rosa<\/a> de 150% entre 2012 e 2018, de acordo com a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI) das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas. E o aumento da polui\u00e7\u00e3o por metano est\u00e1 a agravar-se, de acordo com um recente <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emsa.europa.eu\/emter-2025\/full-report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AESM<\/a> A maior parte deste aumento est\u00e1 associada \u00e0 utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o crescente de GNL no sector dos transportes mar\u00edtimos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As emiss\u00f5es de metano tamb\u00e9m diminuem a qualidade do ar. Isto apesar de estudos recentes terem desmascarado as mentiras de plataformas de lobbying industriais como <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAR\/LNG<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/ese3.1934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A investiga\u00e7\u00e3o revista por pares<\/a> revela que o GNL extra\u00eddo e exportado dos EUA \u00e9 33% mais poluente do que o carv\u00e3o. As fugas de metano ocorrem durante todo o processo de extra\u00e7\u00e3o e fornecimento de GNL, causando problemas de sa\u00fade e a destrui\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1reas e comunidades costeiras <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/article\/2024\/jul\/24\/fossil-fuel-liquified-natural-gas-louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">onde quer que surja uma f\u00e1brica de GNL.<\/a> Estas mesmas fugas continuam a bordo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/articles\/methane-escaping-from-green-gas-powered-ships-fuelling-climate-crisis-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Navios movidos a GNL<\/a>contribuindo para acelerar o colapso clim\u00e1tico. As emiss\u00f5es reais de metano provenientes do transporte mar\u00edtimo tamb\u00e9m indicam que a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o do sector para as altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas \u00e9 maior do que o estimado anteriormente. Apesar dos impactos clim\u00e1ticos e ambientais negativos, prev\u00ea-se que o sector do transporte mar\u00edtimo continue a registar um crescimento da procura de GNL, com a adi\u00e7\u00e3o prevista de cerca de 160 a 500 novos navios movidos a GNL por ano at\u00e9 2030.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Precisamos de regulamentos rigorosos sobre o metano na OMI<\/strong><br>De acordo com o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/syr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPCC (AR6)<\/a>Para que a UE possa fazer face \u00e0 emerg\u00eancia clim\u00e1tica e aos seus impactos devastadores sobre as pessoas, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio combater urgentemente as emiss\u00f5es de metano a curto prazo. Os proponentes do GNL est\u00e3o a iludir os decisores pol\u00edticos sobre a verdadeira dimens\u00e3o dos impactos do GNL no clima e na sa\u00fade, ao mesmo tempo que p\u00f5em em risco um futuro de sobreviv\u00eancia neste planeta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A OMI \u00e9 o organismo das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas que regula a navega\u00e7\u00e3o internacional. <strong>Atualmente, n\u00e3o existe regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o internacional espec\u00edfica para as emiss\u00f5es de metano dos navios. <\/strong>No entanto, existem v\u00e1rias oportunidades para integrar de forma abrangente o metano no quadro regulamentar da OMI durante o Comit\u00e9 de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o do Ambiente Marinho (MEPC83).
