As suas marionetas eram uma imita\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o letal das marionetas dos delegados da OMI. Os lobistas das ind\u00fastrias naval e dos combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis manipulam todas as ac\u00e7\u00f5es da OMI. Al\u00e9m disso, o carbono negro dos HFO queimados cai sob a forma de fuligem e faz com que as calotas polares absorvam mais calor e derretam, acelerando ainda mais os terr\u00edveis ciclos de retroa\u00e7\u00e3o do aquecimento planet\u00e1rio que j\u00e1 est\u00e3o a matar milh\u00f5es de pessoas e amea\u00e7am todas as nossas vidas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O carbono negro \u00e9 especialmente perigoso quando emitido por navios no \u00c1rctico. A OMI tem vindo a discutir regras para o carbono negro h\u00e1 mais de uma d\u00e9cada e o melhor que t\u00eam para mostrar \u00e9 um compromisso para uma mudan\u00e7a volunt\u00e1ria para combust\u00edveis mais limpos. A ind\u00fastria naval tem-se mostrado incapaz de se auto-regular e est\u00e1 a p\u00f4r em risco in\u00fameras vidas.  Chegou o momento de uma regra vinculativa para enfrentar esta potente fonte de aquecimento clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A mudan\u00e7a volunt\u00e1ria nunca funcionou. Quando \u00e9 que alguma ind\u00fastria assumiu voluntariamente um compromisso significativo para com o ambiente? A OMI deve atuar no sentido de acabar com a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de HFO agora - n\u00e3o apenas no \u00c1rtico, mas em todo o lado - se \u00e9 ilegal queimar um tipo de combust\u00edvel em terra, ent\u00e3o deve ser ilegal queim\u00e1-lo no mar. Afinal de contas, grande parte desse combust\u00edvel acaba por ir parar ao mesmo s\u00edtio - aos nossos pulm\u00f5es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scrubbers sujos<\/strong><br>A OMI n\u00e3o s\u00f3 est\u00e1 a fazer uma lavagem verde \u00e0 utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis, como tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 a propor \"purificadores\" para fazer o mesmo com os navios. Estes purificadores impedem que as piores emiss\u00f5es de HFO entrem na atmosfera: isso \u00e9 bom, certo? Bem, n\u00e3o se o purificador o transformar numa solu\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e1cida e o bombear diretamente para o oceano. Assim, ao mesmo tempo que continua a poluir o ar, a OMI est\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m a acidificar diretamente o mar - esta \u00e9 certamente a defini\u00e7\u00e3o de \"greenwash\"! Os IPCC's <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00faltimo relat\u00f3rio<\/a> A concentra\u00e7\u00e3o na mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o do clima torna claro que o g\u00e1s f\u00f3ssil sob a forma de GNL n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o para a descarboniza\u00e7\u00e3o da navega\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ao contr\u00e1rio do que a ci\u00eancia clim\u00e1tica exige, as empresas mar\u00edtimas e portu\u00e1rias t\u00eam sido <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cma-cgm.com\/news\/3571\/cma-cgm-to-dedicate-six-new-lng-powered-vessels-to-service-u-s-customers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a investir fortemente<\/a> em GNL f\u00f3ssil, alegando que o combust\u00edvel ir\u00e1 reduzir os seus impactos ambientais e a polui\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica. Existem actualmente mais de 785 novos navios de carga encomendados a n\u00edvel mundial, com mais de 400 a serem constru\u00eddos para funcionar com GNL f\u00f3ssil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Queimar mais GNL f\u00f3ssil a bordo das embarca\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e9 um desastre na constru\u00e7\u00e3o do nosso planeta. S\u00f3 iria aumentar as emiss\u00f5es de metano das naves, que j\u00e1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/OurWork\/Environment\/Pages\/Fourth-IMO-Greenhouse-Gas-Study-2020.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rosa<\/a> at\u00e9 150% entre 2012 e 2018, de acordo com a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mar\u00edtima Internacional das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas (OMI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/OceanReb_IMO_AC_26.06.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/OceanReb_IMO_AC_26.06.jpg 800w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/OceanReb_IMO_AC_26.06-596x894.jpg 596w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/OceanReb_IMO_AC_26.06-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/OceanReb_IMO_AC_26.06-8x12.jpg 8w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A OMI \u00e9 impr\u00f3pria para o efeito<\/strong><br>A OMI \u00e9 claramente inadequada para o seu objetivo. A OMI tem de reduzir para metade as emiss\u00f5es dos transportes mar\u00edtimos agora, pois j\u00e1 \u00e9 demasiado tarde para que algumas pessoas sobrevivam \u00e0s pol\u00edticas terr\u00edveis da OMI, mas ainda n\u00e3o para todos. Se acrescentarmos a isto o apoio continuado da OMI \u00e0 ind\u00fastria dos combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis, ao n\u00e3o tributar o combust\u00edvel para a navega\u00e7\u00e3o e ao permitir que o subproduto sujo dos combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis, o HFO, seja queimado no mar, e ainda a sua falta de regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o do transporte mar\u00edtimo de produtos petroqu\u00edmicos perigosos, a lista de erros e de direc\u00e7\u00f5es erradas da OMI come\u00e7a a ser muito longa. Tendo em conta esta lista em constante expans\u00e3o, n\u00e3o ser\u00e1 altura de a miss\u00e3o ambiental da OMI ser regida por outra ag\u00eancia da ONU, melhor? A vida \u00e9 demasiado importante para ser desperdi\u00e7ada por uma burocracia inepta.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exig\u00eancias da Ocean Rebellion:<\/strong><br><strong>A ONU deve formar um organismo novo, transparente e representativo para governar o Oceano, em benef\u00edcio de TODAS as vidas. Os governos t\u00eam de deixar de ouvir a ind\u00fastria e come\u00e7ar a ouvir os cientistas, pois todos dizem a mesma coisa - CORTAR OS COMBUST\u00cdVEIS F\u00d3SSEIS\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sophie Miller acrescenta<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\"As emiss\u00f5es dos navios est\u00e3o a aumentar o CO2 atmosf\u00e9rico e o carbono negro do fuel\u00f3leo pesado (HFO) queimado nos navios est\u00e1 a acelerar o degelo dos gelos polares. O HFO \u00e9 um produto residual da ind\u00fastria petrol\u00edfera, os navios funcionam melhor e de forma mais limpa com combust\u00edvel destilado. Vamos fazer com que o transporte mar\u00edtimo passe \u00e0 hist\u00f3ria - mais de 40% do transporte mar\u00edtimo est\u00e1 apenas a transportar combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis desnecess\u00e1rios em todo o mundo.  Grande parte do resto \u00e9 in\u00fatil.  E os danos s\u00f3 est\u00e3o a ser acelerados por esquemas idiotas de lavagem verde, como a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de \"purificadores\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suzanne Stallard acrescenta:<\/strong><br>\"A ONU fala muito bem.
