Em Junho do ano passado, a Comiss\u00e3o Europeia apresentou uma nova lei sobre a restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza<\/a>que, pela primeira vez, introduz objectivos juridicamente vinculativos para recuperar os ecossistemas degradados e inverter a perda de biodiversidade. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No entanto, os pa\u00edses da UE parecem relutantes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais uma vez parece que a natureza vai perder para o lucro.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sobretudo se os oito membros da Comiss\u00e3o das Pescas da UE que figuram nos nossos cartazes levarem a sua avante. Todos eles actuam em nome da pesca industrial, um deles \u00e9 mesmo irm\u00e3 de um grande propriet\u00e1rio de uma frota de pesca. E todos os oito v\u00e3o votar na \u00faltima semana de Maio no Parlamento Europeu, ao lado dos seus amigos conservadores e de direita. Todos eles t\u00eam criticado a proposta de Lei da Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da Natureza, que pela primeira vez estabelece objectivos juridicamente vinculativos para os Estados-Membros restaurarem 20% da terra e dos mares da UE at\u00e9 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uma das principais quest\u00f5es \u00e9 resolver o processo jur\u00eddico disfuncional previsto na Pol\u00edtica Comum das Pescas (PCP), no qual a Lei da Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da Natureza (NRL) se baseia para aplicar medidas de restri\u00e7\u00e3o da pesca para fins de restaura\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na situa\u00e7\u00e3o actual, as medidas de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o previstas no LNR podem ser bloqueadas pelos Estados-Membros que pretendem promover a pesca em detrimento da restaura\u00e7\u00e3o. Se isso acontecer, o LNR n\u00e3o ser\u00e1 uma lei, mas sim uma op\u00e7\u00e3o de restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza - a escolha \u00e9 sua. E n\u00f3s sabemos onde isso vai dar - os governos da UE v\u00e3o optar por n\u00e3o participar, preferindo as vit\u00f3rias econ\u00f3micas f\u00e1ceis \u00e0s decis\u00f5es mais dif\u00edceis necess\u00e1rias para uma mudan\u00e7a progressiva. Se a UE agarrar esta quest\u00e3o agora, pode tornar-se uma refer\u00eancia, n\u00e3o s\u00f3 na recupera\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza, mas tamb\u00e9m na transi\u00e7\u00e3o justa de empregos. Desviando os subs\u00eddios das ind\u00fastrias destrutivas para as restauradoras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de 20% da natureza \u00e9 um bom come\u00e7o, mas a Ocean Rebellion considera que \u00e9 apenas um come\u00e7o. A UE deve ser mais radical, 20% deve ser um objectivo a curto prazo com a restaura\u00e7\u00e3o de 80% como um objectivo a longo prazo. Imagine como ser\u00e1 a Europa com 80% da sua natureza restaurada - qualquer coisa menos do que isso \u00e9 um fracasso da imagina\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Ocean Rebellion tamb\u00e9m exige que o Parlamento e o Conselho da UE apoiem a proposta de tornar os Estados-Membros legalmente respons\u00e1veis pela recupera\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza e de dar aos cidad\u00e3os da UE o direito de processar os Estados-Membros por n\u00e3o cumprirem as suas obriga\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
