Er zijn 60.000 van deze enorme vrachtschepen en het aantal groeit snel, die allemaal de vuilste en goedkoopste soort olie verbranden. Samen pompen ze elk jaar meer dan 1 MILJARD ton broeikasgassen in onze atmosfeer (evenveel als 271 kolengestookte elektriciteitscentrales!).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dat is meer CO2 dan de vijf landen met de hoogste uitstoot ter wereld, maar we praten er nooit over.&nbsp;<strong>De scheepvaart is een van DE grootste veroorzakers van de klimaatcrisis.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Japan, Panama, Noorwegen en de lobbygroep van de International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) lobbyen ervoor dat de gigantische emissies van de scheepvaart nog tien jaar mogen blijven toenemen, waardoor het hele akkoord van Parijs en een veilig klimaat in gevaar komen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Wie heeft de leiding? Zogenaamd de Internationale Maritieme Organisatie van de VN (IMO). Maar in plaats van het algemeen belang te dienen, worden veel landendelegaties bij de IMO al lang corrupt gecontroleerd door de industrie die ze geacht worden te reguleren.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Uw regering neemt deel aan de volgende twee rondes van klimaatbesprekingen in de IMO, van 19-23 oktober en 16-20 november. Ze moeten van u te horen krijgen wat ze moeten doen, niet van de industrie.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Wij eisen dat de regeringen van de IMO echte, afgedwongen CO2-regelgeving aannemen die de scheepvaartemissies onmiddellijk naar beneden stuurt, in overeenstemming met het Akkoord van Parijs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Deze aanpak zou evenveel CO2 in onze atmosfeer kunnen voorkomen als het sluiten van 90 kolencentrales in de komende tien jaar!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Na de rampzalige olieramp van Japan op Mauritius is onze eis eenvoudig:&nbsp;<strong>Schepen uit fossiele brandstoffen,<\/strong>&nbsp;om herhaalde nalatige lozingen van fossiele brandstoffen te voorkomen, de bestaansmiddelen van mensen te beschermen, kostbare mariene milieus te beschermen en ons klimaat te behoeden voor afbraak door fossiele brandstoffen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>TWEET<\/strong><br>De Japanse ambassade&nbsp;<strong>@JAPANinUK<\/strong><br>Het Panama scheepsregister&nbsp;<strong>@ShipPanama<\/strong><br>Ambassade van Noorwegen&nbsp;<strong>@NorwayinUK<\/strong><br>En je eigen regering<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Eis dat ze&nbsp;<strong>#SortYourShipOut&nbsp;<\/strong>en&nbsp;<strong>#GetShipsOffFossilFuels<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan and Panama are lobbying to let the shipping industry sink the Paris Agreement &#8211; behind closed doors.We live in a globalized world &#8211; just take a look at where your clothes or trainers were made.
