Deze lobbyisten zijn vastbesloten om LNG te greenwashen via hun marionettenplatform <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SEA-LNG.ORG.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VLOEIBAAR AARDGAS (LNG) - <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ID-64-%E2%80%93-FUMES-ships-Report-A4-60037-FV.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>de feiten<br><\/strong><\/a>LNG is een fossiele brandstof die bij winning, vervoer en verbranding als scheepsbrandstof methaan lekt in de atmosfeer - een gevaarlijk aardopwarmingsgas dat over <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/the-climate-implications-of-using-lng-as-a-marine-fuel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">80 keer meer klimaatopwarming<\/a> op korte termijn dan kooldioxide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het Intergouvernementeel Panel inzake klimaatverandering van de VN (IPCC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ge\u00efdentificeerd<\/a> snelle vermindering van de methaanuitstoot als een van de topprioriteiten om de opwarming van de aarde zo dicht mogelijk bij 1,5\u00b0C te houden. Het IPCC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">laatste verslag<\/a> gericht op klimaatmitigatie maakt duidelijk dat fossiel gas in de vorm van LNG geen oplossing is voor het koolstofvrij maken van de scheepvaart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In tegenstelling tot wat de klimaatwetenschap voorschrijft, zijn scheepvaart- en havenbedrijven op volle kracht achteruit gegaan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cma-cgm.com\/news\/3571\/cma-cgm-to-dedicate-six-new-lng-powered-vessels-to-service-u-s-customers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">zwaar investeren<\/a> in fossiel LNG, met het argument dat de brandstof hun milieueffecten en klimaatvervuiling zal verminderen. Op dit moment zijn er wereldwijd meer dan 785 nieuwe vrachtschepen in bestelling, waarvan er meer dan 400 worden gebouwd om op het vuile fossiele LNG te varen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het verbranden van meer fossiel LNG aan boord van schepen is een ramp in wording voor onze planeet. Het zou de methaanuitstoot van schepen, die al... <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/OurWork\/Environment\/Pages\/Fourth-IMO-Greenhouse-Gas-Study-2020.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">roos<\/a> met 150% tussen 2012 en 2018, volgens de Internationale Maritieme Organisatie van de VN (IMO). En de toename van methaanvervuiling wordt erger volgens een recente <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emsa.europa.eu\/emter-2025\/full-report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EMSA<\/a> rapport, waarbij het grootste deel van deze stijging verband houdt met het toenemende gebruik van LNG in de scheepvaart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Methaanemissies verminderen ook de luchtkwaliteit. Dit ondanks recent onderzoek dat de leugens van industri\u00eble lobbyplatforms zoals <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ZEE\/LNG<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/ese3.1934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Het collegiaal getoetste onderzoek<\/a> onthult dat LNG dat uit de VS wordt gewonnen en ge\u00ebxporteerd 33% vervuilender is dan steenkool. Methaanlekken komen voor tijdens het hele proces van LNGwinning en -levering en veroorzaken gezondheidsproblemen en de vernietiging van gebieden en kustgemeenschappen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/article\/2024\/jul\/24\/fossil-fuel-liquified-natural-gas-louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overal waar een LNG-installatie verschijnt.<\/a> Dezelfde lekken blijven aan boord <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/articles\/methane-escaping-from-green-gas-powered-ships-fuelling-climate-crisis-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Schepen op LNG<\/a>Het helpt de ineenstorting van het klimaat te versnellen. Om deze ongemakkelijke waarheid te verdoezelen bazuint de industrie <a href=\"https:\/\/saynotolng.org\/resource\/biomethane-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">biomethaan<\/a> en<a href=\"https:\/\/saynotolng.org\/resource\/factsheet-e-lng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> e-methaan<\/a> producten die slechts 6% van de EU-markt uitmaken en nog minder wereldwijd (en beide lekken nog steeds methaan in hun hele toeleveringsketen).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"supportus-block_fe5cf00456f44f7b9c07eb3135b07c46\" class=\"block--supportus\">\n    \n    <p class=\"no-margin\">\n        <strong>Het lot van de oceaan hangt van ons allemaal af.<br \/>\r\nOnze interventies zijn afhankelijk van uw steun.<\/strong>\n    <\/p>\n    \n    <div class=\"wp-container-1 wp-block-buttons\">\n\n        <div class=\"wp-block-button button--support\">\n            <a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"\/nl\/support-us\/\">Steun ons<\/a>\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"wp-block-button button--contact\">\n            <a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"\/nl\/about\/\">Contacteer ons<\/a>\n        <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Huidige status van LNG en scheepvaart<\/strong><br>Tussen 2012 en 2018 steeg de methaanuitstoot van schepen die op LNG varen met 150 procent. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/OurWork\/Environment\/Pages\/Fourth-IMO-Greenhouse-Gas-Study-2020.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(Vierde IMO BKG-onderzoek 2020)<\/a>. De werkelijke methaanemissies van de scheepvaart geven ook aan dat de bijdrage van de sector aan de klimaatverandering groter is dan eerder werd geschat. Ondanks de negatieve klimaat- en milieueffecten wordt verwacht dat de scheepvaartsector de vraag naar LNG verder zal zien groeien, met de verwachte toevoeging van ongeveer 160 tot 500 nieuwe schepen op LNG per jaar tot 2030.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We hebben strenge methaanregels nodig bij de IMO<\/strong><br>Volgens de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/syr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPCC (AR6)<\/a>Om de klimaatcrisis en de verwoestende gevolgen ervan voor mensen aan te pakken, moet de methaanuitstoot op korte termijn dringend worden aangepakt. Voorstanders van LNG houden beleidsmakers voor de gek wat betreft de werkelijke omvang van de gevolgen van LNG voor het klimaat en de gezondheid, terwijl ze een leefbare toekomst op deze planeet in gevaar brengen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De IMO is het VN-orgaan dat de internationale scheepvaart reguleert. <strong>Momenteel bestaat er geen specifieke internationale regelgeving voor methaanemissies door schepen. <\/strong>Er zijn echter verschillende mogelijkheden om methaan tijdens het Comit\u00e9 voor de bescherming van het mariene milieu (MEPC83) volledig te integreren in het regelgevingskader van de IMO. Als dit niet gebeurt, stellen we een drastischere toekomst voor de IMO voor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oproep tot actie bij de IMO:<\/strong><br><strong>LNG is een fossiele brandstof die mensen, het milieu en het klimaat in elke fase van zijn levenscyclus negatief be\u00efnvloedt.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wij eisen:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\/ <\/strong>Methaanemissies worden beschouwd als een broeikasgas en worden opgenomen in eventuele MEPC-plannen om een koolstofbelasting te heffen op de scheepvaart, gewogen op basis van het overtollige klimaatvervormende vermogen van vluchtig methaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2\/<\/strong> De lidstaten van de IMO erkennen LNG als fossiele brandstof en luisteren niet langer naar de <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\/why-lng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SEA LNG<\/a> lobbyisten, door ze buiten de IMO te houden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3\/<\/strong> De IMO bevordert effici\u00ebntie en het gebruik van slow steaming, capaciteitsvermindering en, <a href=\"https:\/\/seas-at-risk.org\/publications\/one-planet-shipping-navigating-the-waves-of-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">zeilschepen en elektrisch aangedreven schepen<\/a> door het gebruik van de scheepvaartsector te stimuleren, werknemers mondiger te maken en beter op te leiden en eerlijkere scheepvaartroutes in te voeren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"897\" src=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Copy-of-DSC_5238-ed-fx-guy-reece.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4061\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Copy-of-DSC_5238-ed-fx-guy-reece.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Copy-of-DSC_5238-ed-fx-guy-reece-596x446.jpg 596w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Copy-of-DSC_5238-ed-fx-guy-reece-768x574.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Copy-of-DSC_5238-ed-fx-guy-reece-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2b06\ufe0f<em> Scrubby verslaat de oceaanbewoners.
