Het evenement zegt dat het 'de meest vooraanstaande leiders van de cruisesector, beleidsmakers, zakenpartners en leveranciers bij elkaar zal brengen om de toekomst van de sector te bespreken' - de bewoners zouden liever zien dat de sector weg cruist en in plaats daarvan iets gaat doen wat de moeite waard is.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n    <h2 id=\"callout-block_237dec3b48958b186e4b7d8db617535f\" class=\"callout-heading callout-heading-advanced\">\n\n    \n        <span class=\"font--function-stencil size--fixed\">Er is<\/span>\n    \n    \n        <span class=\"font--function-stencil size--fixed\">geen toekomst voor<\/span>\n    \n    \n        <span class=\"font--function-stencil size--fixed\">vervuilende<\/span>\n    \n    \n        <span class=\"font--function-stencil size--fixed\">toerisme<\/span>\n    \n    \n    <\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Vanaf het moment dat CLIA Cruiseweek feestelijk opende, kwam een groep van dertig leden van Extinction Rebellion NL de beurshal binnen. De rebellen hingen een groot spandoek op met daarop \"You Are Not Welcome Here\". Ook gooiden ze handenvol zwarte confetti over de beursstands van de verschillende cruisemaatschappijen. Tegelijkertijd bezette een tweede groep de trappen van het gebouw aan de Koopgoot. Waarom niet? De cruise-industrie is tenslotte een lading oude broeken. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\"Is het niet gek dat kleine bedrijven vanaf volgend jaar alleen nog maar in een emissievrij busje de stad in mogen, terwijl deze extreem vieze schepen rechtstreeks de binnenstad in stomen?\"<\/em><\/strong> verklaarde Pim de Vleeschhouwer. <strong><em>&nbsp;\"En dan subsidieert de gemeente ook nog exploitanten!\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een cruiseschip stoot gemiddeld twee keer zoveel CO2 per kilometer per persoon uit dan een vliegtuig. Daarnaast veroorzaken cruiseschepen een extreem hoge uitstoot van zwaveloxiden (SOx). Deze schadelijke stoffen kunnen ademhalingsproblemen en longkanker veroorzaken.
