De visdetectives droegen hun bewijsmateriaal bij zich in aktetassen met het opschrift MSC CERTIFIED LIES, WAR ON FISH en ECOCIDE.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"http:\/\/ocean-rebellion.onyx-sites.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/a-bloody-fishy-business-2-dsc_2999ed-guyreece.jpg\" alt=\"a bloody fishy business\" class=\"wp-image-307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/a-bloody-fishy-business-2-dsc_2999ed-guyreece.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/a-bloody-fishy-business-2-dsc_2999ed-guyreece-596x397.jpg 596w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ocean Rebellion eist dat de MSC stopt met liegen tegen onschuldige supermarktkopers. Momenteel certificeert de Marine Stewardship Council alle vismethoden als duurzaam en maakt op haar etikettering geen onderscheid tussen industri\u00eble en ambachtelijke vismethoden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Bovendien stelt de Marine Stewardship Council zijn leden in staat hun certificering te verkrijgen door tegen betaling lid te worden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ocean Rebellion stelt dat dit de objectiviteit van de certificering ondermijnt en haar inherent corrupt maakt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Wij vragen de MSC, en alle andere certificeringsinstanties, om een opschorting van de industri\u00eble visserij te eisen totdat de toestand van de visbestanden volledig bekend is, waarbij alle vissers die door deze opschorting worden getroffen, compensatie van hun regering ontvangen.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>U kunt het tij van de MSC's leugens helpen keren door deel te nemen aan ons heretiketteringsprogramma.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/nl\/news\/supermarket-sticker-sweep\/\">hier.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"http:\/\/ocean-rebellion.onyx-sites.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-war-on-fish-dsc_3013edguyreece.jpg\" alt=\"a bloody fishy business war on fish\" class=\"wp-image-310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-war-on-fish-dsc_3013edguyreece.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-war-on-fish-dsc_3013edguyreece-596x397.jpg 596w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BODEMTRAWLVISSERIJ EN BLAUWE KOOLSTOF<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Geschat wordt dat de bodemtrawlvisserij meer CO2 uitstoot dan de wereldwijde luchtvaart.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>CO2 opgeslagen in de oceanen staat bekend als&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/articles\/10.3389\/fclim.2021.710546\/full\">Blue Carbon.<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;Dit is koolstof die is opgeslagen in zeebodemsedimenten, mariene habitats en de daar gevangen vis. Wanneer de zeebodem wordt beschadigd door bodemsleepnetten, komt deze blauwe koolstof vrij, waardoor de zeebodem verandert van een koolstofput in een bron van CO2 en van methaan (CH4), een veel krachtiger broeikasgas. Blauwe koolstof wordt ook opgeslagen in zeedieren, dus vis die uit zee wordt gehaald draagt ook bij tot het vrijkomen van blauwe koolstof. Als dit cijfer zou worden meegenomen in de berekening van de koolstofvoetafdruk, zou de werkelijke voetafdruk van sommige met bodemtrawls gevangen zeevruchten waarschijnlijk nog groter zijn dan die van andere levensmiddelen, waaronder rundvlees. Dit alles draagt bij tot de verzuring van de oceanen, die op relatief korte termijn het mariene leven dreigt uit te roeien, vooral dat met skeletten of schelpen. Talloze mariene soorten worden nu met uitsterven bedreigd.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Industri\u00eble vissersschepen stoten jaarlijks 159 miljoen ton CO2 uit. Dit komt overeen met de jaarlijkse hoeveelheid CO2 die 40 kolencentrales uitstoten.<\/strong>&nbsp;Dit cijfer is sinds de ramingen van 1950 verviervoudigd.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"861\" height=\"1200\" src=\"http:\/\/ocean-rebellion.onyx-sites.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-no-more-fish-in-the-sea-dsc_2973ed-guyreece.jpg\" alt=\"a bloody fishy business - no more fish in the sea\" class=\"wp-image-311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-no-more-fish-in-the-sea-dsc_2973ed-guyreece.jpg 861w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/a-bloody-fishy-business-no-more-fish-in-the-sea-dsc_2973ed-guyreece-596x831.jpg 596w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Sophie Miller van Ocean Rebellion zegt:<\/strong><br>\"Wij eisen dat de Marine Stewardship Council de waarheid vertelt over destructieve vismethoden en onmiddellijk stopt met het greenwashen van de industrie met duurzaamheidsleugens.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Rob Higgs voegt toe:<\/strong><br>\"De MSC moet de waarheid vertellen over de uitputting van de oceanen. Veel vispopulaties zijn bijna uitgestorven, zelfs de overheidsterminologie om ze vispopulaties te noemen en ze te omschrijven als 'nog niet volledig bevist' impliceert een industrieel perspectief op iets dat we zouden moeten beschermen alsof ons leven ervan afhangt - want dat is zo.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Clive Russell zegt:<\/strong><br>\"Als een soort eenmaal is uitgestorven, is hij voorgoed verloren. We mogen geen visserijmethoden aanmoedigen die dit mogelijk maken. En als we doorgaan met vissen op industri\u00eble schaal, met megatrawlers die netten verslepen ter grootte van een jumbojet, zullen we uiteindelijk gewoon geen vis meer in de zee hebben.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Roc Sandford zegt:<\/strong><br>\"We hebben bijna alle wilde eiwitten op het land opgegeten, we zijn nu op weg om hetzelfde te doen met de oceanen. Dit betekent dat we ze leeg en uitgeput achterlaten van de vis die ooit vrij zwom. We moeten nu een einde maken aan de boomkorvisserij en de industri\u00eble visserij om de vispopulaties een kans op herstel te geven. Vanwege de koolstof die door mariene organismen is opgeslagen, zijn de afbraak van de mariene biodiversiteit en de klimaatnoodsituatie min of meer hetzelfde.
