Ocean Rebellion heeft de prachtige Schotse Hooglanden bezocht om de milieudrama's te catalogiseren.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Op zaterdag 23 oktober ontdekte Ocean Rebellion bij Eilan Donan een op de kust gestrande en stervende zeemeermin. Niemand kon begrijpen waarom ze uit het water was gekropen. Eerst dachten we dat het net, weggegooid door een supertrawler, het probleem was, totdat er groene, stinkende vloeistof werd ontdekt. Bij nader onderzoek bleek de vloeistof uit een stroompje te komen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Vlakbij vond Ocean Rebellion een 'fossiele-fool' oliekop die giftige groene was in het water goot. Deze domme vertegenwoordiger van de fossiele brandstofindustrie, een lid van de Cambo Oil Field lobby, leek de hulp te hebben van Boris Johnson. Beiden gingen gewoon door met vervuilen - het lot van het arme mythische schepsel, of de schittering van onze camera's kon hen niet schelen. Ze waren allebei heel zeker van de kracht van hun Greenwash, het heeft de meeste mensen zeker voor de gek gehouden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ocean Rebellion volgde de \"Fossil-fool\" en vond hem op zondag (24 oktober) in nog meer milieu idioterie. Deze keer stak hij de Highlands in brand door de laatste boom op de heuvel bij The Old Man of Storr in brand te steken. De fossiele brandstofindustrie maakt natuurgeschiedenis en heeft haar walgelijke bijproduct, zware stookolie (HFO), altijd buiten het zicht van het publiek verbrand. Normaal gesproken doet zij dit op zee door het te verbranden in scheepsmotoren, maar deze 'Fossil-fool' heeft besloten dat hij te veel oude autobanden, zwavel en paraffine heeft om kwijt te raken (alle ingredi\u00ebnten van HFO). Ook premier Boris Johnson deed mee, ze leken erg amicaal, misschien kan Boris daarom niet wachten om het nieuwe Cambo Oil field af te tekenen? Ze genoten allebei van een leuke tijd en Boris leek te profiteren van de vernietiging om hen heen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Daarna keerden ze terug naar de stroom, met wat meer greenwash, en verbrandden nog wat meer olie - waarom niet als je ermee weg kunt komen?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

HET SCHOTSE PARLEMENT<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ocean Rebellion eist<\/strong>\u00a0neemt het Schotse Parlement het milieu serieus, en beschermt het voor het levensonderhoud en het overleven van de jongeren. Het Cambo olieveld kan niet doorgaan. Het oppompen van nog eens 170 miljoen vaten olie zal de klimaatcrisis verergeren. In plaats daarvan moet het Schotse parlement zich richten op het bieden van alternatieve werkgelegenheid in Aberdeen en andere Schotse gemeenschappen die afhankelijk zijn van banen in fossiele brandstoffen. Wij vragen het Schotse parlement om zich te concentreren op hernieuwbare energiebronnen, herbebossing en bescherming. Wij vragen Nicola Sturgeon om van fossiele brandstoffen een nachtmerrie uit het verleden te maken. We weten dat het zinloos is om Boris en zijn trawanten aan te spreken, zij zitten in de zakken van de Fossil Fools.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Het vergroten van de Schotse zalmkweek is een andere no-no. Het mariene milieu van Schotland is niet aan jou om te vernietigen, Nicola. Ocean Rebellion doet een beroep op de Schotse regering om gehoor te geven aan de bevindingen van haar eigen parlement en een moratorium in te stellen op zowel nieuwe kwekerijen als op een verhoging van de productie totdat deze verwoestende industrie haar rommel heeft opgeruimd.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

COP26<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

De menselijke afhankelijkheid van de industrie van fossiele brandstoffen draagt rechtstreeks bij tot de afbraak van het klimaat.\u00a0Ocean Rebellion eist<\/strong>\u00a0dat COP26 een krachtige toezegging doet om een einde te maken aan de afhankelijkheid van fossiele brandstoffen en de Internationale Maritieme Organisatie van de VN reviseert door alle belanghebbenden bij fossiele brandstoffen te verwijderen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sophie Miller van Ocean Rebellion zegt:<\/strong>
\"Het Cambo-olieveld is een voortzetting van de idiotie van de fossiele brandstoffen - we moeten van de olie af en niet nog meer putten graven. We weten dat Boris Johnson niets zal doen, hij is een inhalige dwaas met een zwakke wil, maar de Schotse regering kan leiderschap tonen en Westminster een slag toebrengen door te laten zien hoe een echt milieubeleid eruit ziet.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Rob Higgs van Ocean Rebellion zegt:<\/strong>
\"Wij zijn de opeenvolgende achterbakse subsidies aan de fossiele-brandstofindustrie beu. Zwakke internationale scheepvaartwetgeving staat toe dat schepen zware stookolie (HFO) verbranden, een oliebijproduct dat zo giftig is dat \u00e9\u00e9n groot schip evenveel vervuiling veroorzaakt als een miljoen auto-uitlaten.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Roc Sandford, ook van Ocean Rebellion, zegt:<\/strong>
\"Hoe kan de Britse regering het hebben over 'de wereld leiden op het gebied van verbintenissen ten aanzien van de planeet' als zij de subsidies aan de olie- en gasindustrie met 2 miljard pond heeft verhoogd? Stop de achterbaksheid en geef ons wat toezeggingen op korte termijn om de uitstoot echt te verminderen. Stop met het groenwassen en begin met leidinggeven, nu.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Clive Russell, ook van Ocean Rebellion, zegt:<\/strong>
\"Oliemaatschappijen als Shell en BP hebben via lobbyen en brancheorganisaties de noodmaatregel geblokkeerd die als enige het leven in de oceanen kan redden. Op deze manier versterken zij de schade die hun olie veroorzaakt en brengen zij al onze levens in gevaar.\"<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
