Uit berekeningen blijkt dat de milieukosten van het huren van dit cruiseschip gelijk zijn aan elke politieagent op de boot die 6 keer naar de maan en terug rijdt in een auto op fossiele brandstof.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ocean Rebellion eist dat de regering stopt met het verspillen van geld aan zinloze conferenties vol greenwash en chique maaltijden. De wereld heeft regeringen nodig die de oceaan willen beschermen en herstellen. Ocean Rebellion eist dat de G7 instemt met:<br>Belasting op scheepsbrandstoffen NU<br>NU vissersvloten ontslaan<br>NU de volle zee beschermen tegen diepzeemijnbouw<br>Stop NU de chemische vervuiling door cosmetica, afvalwater, plastic en landbouw.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9679291\/Extinction-Rebellion-protestors-sea-demand-action-climate-change-G7-summit.html#v-7999322614257565926\">dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9679291\/Extinction-Rebellion-protestors-sea-demand-action-climate-change-G7-summit.html<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Rob Higgs zegt<br><em>\"De scheepvaart is verantwoordelijk voor 400.000 vroegtijdige sterfgevallen wereldwijd. Bij de bodemtrawlvisserij komt zelfs meer kooldioxide vrij dan bij de luchtvaart. Diepzeemijnbouw is een ander klassiek voorbeeld van greenwashing schade. Ons wordt verteld dat het voor de groene lithium-economie is, maar toch worden deze mijnbouwvergunningen afgegeven aan wapenbedrijven. Gezond verstand zegt dat dit onmiddellijk moet veranderen om een catastrofale ineenstorting van het klimaat af te wenden.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Clive Russell zegt:<br><em>\"We moeten nu handelen om de catastrofale klimaatverandering, de verzuring van de oceanen en het verlies aan biodiversiteit te bestrijden. Tenzij we al deze problemen aanpakken, zullen we de oceaan doden. We zijn allemaal verbonden met het lot van deze wonderbaarlijke ruimte, en als de zee sterft, sterven wij.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sophie Miller voegt toe:<br><em>\"Wij vragen de Britse regering haar belofte na te komen en de G7-conferentie te gebruiken om het voortouw te nemen bij het doorvoeren van zinvolle milieuveranderingen. Stop business as usual en begin met de drastische maatregelen die nodig zijn om de crisis aan te pakken. We moeten de toekomstige behoeften veranderen voordat het te laat is.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Daisy Pearson zegt:<br><em>\"Zwarte koolstof uit de scheepvaart draagt rechtstreeks bij tot het albedo-effect en versnelt het smelten van de Groenlandse ijskap, een bekend omslagpunt voor het klimaat. Dit brengt onze overleving op deze planeet in gevaar. Regeringen spelen een gevaarlijk spel met ons leven en het zijn de zuidelijke landen, die het minst verantwoordelijk zijn voor de klimaatverandering, die eronder lijden. Wij zeggen: stop nu.\"<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Roc Sandford van Ocean Rebellion zegt:<br><em>\"De Britse regering heeft, ondanks haar groene aanmatiging, zojuist waanzinnige hoeveelheden schadelijke scheepsbrandstof verspild door een cruiseschip uit de Oostzee te laten varen, alleen maar om de politie te huisvesten die voor de G7 werd binnengebracht. Of ze begrijpen niet hoe schadelijk dit is, of het kan ze niet schelen. Of allebei. Om te voorkomen dat het klimaat en de natuur op hol slaan, moeten de scheep- en luchtvaart nu worden belast op een niveau dat hun gebruik met ten minste 10% per jaar vermindert, in lijn met de rest van de economie.
