I recenti incubi della COVID-19 hanno riportato l'attenzione sul settore. Con i governi che mettono in quarantena le navi da crociera e i passeggeri lasciati a bordo a cavarsela da soli, la natura non governata di queste cittadelle galleggianti \u00e8 tornata sotto i riflettori.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ecco tre fatti non inquinanti sull'industria delle crociere che vi faranno arricciare le dita dei piedi. Tenete presente che una nave da crociera media crea un inquinamento per passeggero dieci volte superiore a quello di un volo aereo equivalente:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Il 1\u00b0 febbraio 2020 un passeggero della nave da crociera Diamond Princess \u00e8 risultato positivo al Coronavirus. Questo \u00e8 stato il primo focolaio riconosciuto al di fuori della provincia di Wuhan, in Cina. Le navi sono sempre state portatrici di germi. Il termine quarantena risale ai tempi della peste nera, quando a quaranta navi fu imposto di \"stare ferme\" in un porto italiano per quaranta giorni. Negli ultimi anni l'industria ha visto scoppiare epidemie di e-coli, norovirus, influenza e persino varicella. Quando si va in crociera si corre un rischio, un rischio che non viene mai menzionato nelle brochure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Una nave da crociera ha le dimensioni di una piccola citt\u00e0 in termini di popolazione. La nave pi\u00f9 grande trasporta 5.500 passeggeri, ma non c'\u00e8 alcun obbligo legale di medici certificati riconosciuti. Ci\u00f2 significa che i passeggeri prendono in mano la propria vita ogni volta che salgono a bordo. La situazione \u00e8 ulteriormente aggravata dalla mancanza di strutture mediche adeguate e non \u00e8 aiutata dalle ripetute pressioni per bloccare una legislazione efficace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Le crociere economiche hanno un costo: sono accessibili solo ai redditi medi perch\u00e9 le navi battono una bandiera di comodo. Bandiera di comodo significa che una nave da crociera pu\u00f2 essere registrata ovunque nel mondo. Ci\u00f2 significa che le compagnie di crociera registrano le loro navi in Paesi con tasse basse e senza leggi sul lavoro. Una compagnia di crociere, Carnival, l'anno scorso ha evitato tasse per $700 milioni. Ma il costo umano \u00e8 peggiore. Molti dipendenti delle navi da crociera vivono in condizioni simili a quelle delle sardine e sono pagati anche solo $2 all'ora.
