En attrapant tout ce qui se trouve sur son chemin (quel qu'il soit), il d\u00e9truit les habitats marins et lib\u00e8re le carbone \"bleu\" qui y est stock\u00e9. De m\u00eame, les filets se cassent. Et lorsqu'ils se cassent, ils sont lib\u00e9r\u00e9s et flottent dans l'oc\u00e9an, tuant tout ce qui s'y emm\u00eale. Une fois qu'ils se sont bris\u00e9s, un autre filet est pr\u00eat \u00e0 partir, poursuivant ainsi le massacre.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Si la destruction de la faune et de l'habitat n'est pas assez grave en soi, il faut ajouter le gaspillage pur et simple : les scientifiques ont estim\u00e9 que les chalutiers de fond de la mer du Nord tuent environ 16 kg d'animaux marins pour chaque kilo de sole captur\u00e9. C'est ce qu'on appelle les prises accessoires, et ce massacre environnemental fait partie int\u00e9grante du mod\u00e8le \u00e9conomique du chalutage de fond.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>L'humanit\u00e9 a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 la guerre aux poissons et nous sommes en train de gagner. L'oc\u00e9an est tellement appauvri que les petites communaut\u00e9s de p\u00eacheurs sont \u00e0 la limite de la survie. Il s'agit du carbone stock\u00e9 dans les s\u00e9diments des fonds marins, les habitats marins et les poissons qui y sont p\u00each\u00e9s. Lorsque les s\u00e9diments de carbone bleu sont endommag\u00e9s, ils peuvent passer du statut de puits \u00e0 celui de source de CO2.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/articles\/10.3389\/fclim.2021.710546\/full#B133\">CO2 et de m\u00e9thane (CH4),<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;un gaz \u00e0 effet de serre beaucoup plus puissant. Le carbone bleu est \u00e9galement stock\u00e9 dans les animaux marins, de sorte que les poissons retir\u00e9s de la mer contribuent \u00e9galement \u00e0 la lib\u00e9ration de carbone bleu. Tout cela contribue \u00e0 l'acidification des oc\u00e9ans, qui menace d'\u00e9radiquer toute vie marine dot\u00e9e d'un squelette ou d'une coquille \u00e0 relativement court terme. D'innombrables esp\u00e8ces marines sont d\u00e9sormais menac\u00e9es d'extinction.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>L'oc\u00e9an absorbe actuellement le carbone de notre air, mais lorsque ces niveaux de carbone augmentent, les choses changent pour le pire. \"L'oc\u00e9an absorbe un quart \u00e0 plus d'un tiers de nos \u00e9missions de CO2 chaque ann\u00e9e. Il n'y a pas si longtemps, les eaux c\u00f4ti\u00e8res \u00e9cossaises \u00e9taient prot\u00e9g\u00e9es du chalutage de fond par une \"limite de trois miles\". Cette limite a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduite en 1889 pour aider \u00e0 combattre les dommages caus\u00e9s aux populations de poissons et prot\u00e9ger les bateaux de p\u00eache artisanale. Cette limite a \u00e9t\u00e9 abolie en 1984. Depuis lors, les eaux c\u00f4ti\u00e8res du Royaume-Uni sont constamment attaqu\u00e9es par des super chalutiers de plus en plus gros. Les eaux c\u00f4ti\u00e8res et la vie marine du Royaume-Uni ne sont pas prot\u00e9g\u00e9es, pas m\u00eame par des zones marines prot\u00e9g\u00e9es. Et nous ne parlons pas d'hommes barbus aux cheveux gris dans de minuscules remorqueurs vivant en harmonie avec la mer, nous parlons d'\u00e9normes usines bas\u00e9es en mer. La plupart de nos poissons sont p\u00each\u00e9s par des usines d'abattage sur mer. Voici une photo d'un bateau moderne du Capitaine Bird's Eye - oui, celui-ci attrape vraiment des doigts de poisson ! Une grande partie de ces prises est \u00e9tiquet\u00e9e \"durable\" par des marionnettes de l'industrie comme le Marine Stewardship Council, puis vendue dans votre supermarch\u00e9 pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9. La p\u00eache industrielle n'est pas durable. Mais il existe d'autres m\u00e9thodes de p\u00eache \u00e0 petite \u00e9chelle qui peuvent \u00eatre durables. Elles impliquent de payer plus cher nos produits de la mer, mais elles prot\u00e8gent l'oc\u00e9an pour que les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures puissent en profiter.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Les super chalutiers chalutent les eaux britanniques, m\u00eame nos zones marines prot\u00e9g\u00e9es.
