El hielo marino del \u00c1rtico, los glaciares, el permafrost y la capa de hielo de Groenlandia se est\u00e1n reduciendo r\u00e1pidamente debido al calentamiento global por el efecto albedo, causado directamente por la contaminaci\u00f3n por carbono negro procedente de HFO y VLSFO sucios. Esto tiene consecuencias medioambientales letales, como la subida del nivel del mar y los fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos, que afectan sobre todo a las poblaciones vulnerables del Sur y se desarrollan en el contexto de la crisis clim\u00e1tica del \u00c1rtico\".<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Los fuel\u00f3leos pesados y el carbono negro figurar\u00e1n en el orden del d\u00eda de la PPR 8, en la que los Estados miembros de la OMI tienen la oportunidad de adoptar medidas r\u00e1pidas y eficaces para reducir las emisiones de carbono negro en el \u00c1rtico. Los Estados miembros de la OMI deben acordar una normativa que garantice que el sector del transporte mar\u00edtimo que opera en el \u00c1rtico o en sus proximidades cambie a combustibles destilados, como el gas\u00f3leo o el gas\u00f3leo marino, y obligue a los buques a utilizar filtros de part\u00edculas, o a pasar a otras fuentes de energ\u00eda o medios de propulsi\u00f3n m\u00e1s limpios. Los trabajos para desarrollar una norma mundial sobre emisiones de carbono negro para el transporte mar\u00edtimo deben iniciarse de inmediato.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sophie a\u00f1adi\u00f3&nbsp;<strong>Mientras realizamos la transici\u00f3n hacia los combustibles sin carbono y otros m\u00e9todos de propulsi\u00f3n, tenemos que poner fin a las muertes por contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica, reducir las emisiones de carbono negro y aumentar el coste de los combustibles convencionales aplicando el principio de \"quien contamina paga\".
