En ella, los delegados de la OMI y los Estados miembros ultimar\u00e1n planes para regular la contaminaci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con motivo de esta ocasi\u00f3n especial, hemos pensado recordarles que no todas las emisiones de los buques reciben el mismo trato. De hecho, es posible que algunas no se tengan en cuenta en absoluto. Un cartel que conten\u00eda el mensaje gr\u00e1fico \"AL GAS NATURAL LICUADO LE ENCANTA EL LAVADO VERDE\". El precario Scrubby, montado en una larga p\u00e9rtiga de 4 metros, peg\u00f3 el cartel en la ventana, dando a todos los que estaban dentro la oportunidad de aplaudir sus maravillosas habilidades. No hay que buscar mucho, los miembros de <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\/about-us\/membership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAR\/GNL<\/a> ofrece una lista completa de sinverg\u00fcenzas. El petr\u00f3leo y el gas no pueden formar parte del \"futuro del transporte mar\u00edtimo\". Si la OMI de la ONU se toma en serio la reducci\u00f3n de la contaminaci\u00f3n, el transporte mar\u00edtimo debe dejar de utilizar combustibles f\u00f3siles. <\/em><br>-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scrubby representa el flagrante lavado verde que dar\u00e1 al GNL un pase libre para evitar cualquier plan del MEPC para incluir el GNL en las regulaciones de contaminaci\u00f3n del transporte mar\u00edtimo \/ grav\u00e1menes fiscales - convirtiendo al GNL en el combustible f\u00f3sil para el transporte mar\u00edtimo (mientras se siguen acelerando las emisiones peligrosas y los beneficios obscenos para las industrias de los combustibles f\u00f3siles y el transporte mar\u00edtimo). Reuniones dominadas por los intereses de la industria naviera, una industria empe\u00f1ada en cimentar su romance con la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas adoptando el sucio GNL como su combustible preferido. Y ello a pesar de las recientes investigaciones que han puesto al descubierto las mentiras de plataformas de presi\u00f3n industrial como <a href=\"https:\/\/sea-lng.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAR\/GNL<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/ese3.1934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La investigaci\u00f3n revisada por expertos<\/a> revela que el GNL extra\u00eddo y exportado desde Estados Unidos es 33% m\u00e1s contaminante que el carb\u00f3n, disput\u00e1ndose el t\u00edtulo de combustible f\u00f3sil m\u00e1s letal. A lo largo del proceso de extracci\u00f3n y suministro de GNL se producen fugas de metano que aumentan los niveles de mortalidad y causan problemas de salud. Y la extracci\u00f3n de GNL destruye tierras y comunidades costeras <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/article\/2024\/jul\/24\/fossil-fuel-liquified-natural-gas-louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dondequiera que aparezca una planta de GNL.<\/a> Estas mismas fugas contin\u00faan a bordo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/articles\/methane-escaping-from-green-gas-powered-ships-fuelling-climate-crisis-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buques propulsados por GNL<\/a>contribuyendo a acelerar el colapso clim\u00e1tico y el de nuestras econom\u00edas. Para encubrir esta inc\u00f3moda verdad, la industria pregona <a href=\"https:\/\/saynotolng.org\/resource\/biomethane-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">biometano<\/a> y<a href=\"https:\/\/saynotolng.org\/resource\/factsheet-e-lng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> e-metano<\/a> productos que s\u00f3lo representan el 6% del mercado de la UE e incluso menos en todo el mundo (y ambos siguen filtrando metano a lo largo de sus cadenas de suministro y, en el caso del biometano, agotan los recursos de la tierra y disparan la escasez y los precios de los alimentos). La escala industrial del lavado verde del GNL ha convertido al MEPC de la OMI de la ONU en una marioneta de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"672\" src=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside8.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside8.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside8-596x334.jpg 596w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside8-768x430.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside8-18x10.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2b06\ufe0f <\/em>\"\u00a1Esta es tierra privada, por favor v\u00e1yanse ahora!\" <br><em>\"Lo intentar\u00e9 se\u00f1or, pero por favor tenga cuidado con el suelo mojado, es bastante resbaladizo\".<\/em><br>\"V\u00e1yanse, salgan de esta tierra, est\u00e1n cometiendo allanamiento suave\".<br><em>\"Lo har\u00e9 si quitas la barrera, mi cadera no est\u00e1 muy bien y no puedo superarlo...\"<\/em> <br>-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gas natural licuado (GNL) - <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/ID-64-%E2%80%93-FUMES-ships-Report-A4-60037-FV.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>los hechos<br><\/strong><\/a>El GNL es un combustible f\u00f3sil que, cuando se extrae, se transporta y se quema como combustible marino, deja escapar metano a la atm\u00f3sfera, un gas peligroso para el calentamiento global que est\u00e1 sobre <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/publication\/the-climate-implications-of-using-lng-as-a-marine-fuel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">80 veces m\u00e1s calentamiento del clima<\/a> a corto plazo (20 a\u00f1os) que el di\u00f3xido de carbono.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (IPCC) de la ONU <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">identificado<\/a> la r\u00e1pida reducci\u00f3n de las emisiones de metano como una de las principales prioridades para limitar el calentamiento global a un nivel lo m\u00e1s cercano posible a 1,5\u00b0C. El IPCC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/wg3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00faltimo informe<\/a> centrarse en la mitigaci\u00f3n del clima deja claro que el gas f\u00f3sil en forma de GNL no es una soluci\u00f3n para la descarbonizaci\u00f3n del transporte mar\u00edtimo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contrariamente a lo que exige la climatolog\u00eda, las compa\u00f1\u00edas navieras y portuarias han ido a toda m\u00e1quina a popa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cma-cgm.com\/news\/3571\/cma-cgm-to-dedicate-six-new-lng-powered-vessels-to-service-u-s-customers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invirtiendo fuertemente<\/a> en GNL f\u00f3sil, alegando que el combustible reducir\u00e1 su impacto medioambiental y la contaminaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica. Actualmente hay m\u00e1s de 785 nuevos cargueros encargados en todo el mundo, de los cuales m\u00e1s de 400 se est\u00e1n construyendo para funcionar con GNL f\u00f3sil sucio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quemar m\u00e1s GNL f\u00f3sil a bordo de los buques es un desastre en ciernes para nuestro planeta. Solo aumentar\u00eda las emisiones de metano de los buques, que ya aumentaron en 180% entre 2016 y 2023, seg\u00fan un reciente <a href=\"https:\/\/theicct.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ID-332-%E2%80%93-Global-shipping_report_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Informe del Consejo Internacional de Transporte Limpio (ICCT).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las emisiones de metano tambi\u00e9n disminuyen la calidad del aire. Adem\u00e1s, el aumento de la demanda de GNL -incluido el sector mar\u00edtimo- provoca efectos adversos en tierra, como la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua potable, la reducci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola y el aumento de las tasas de mortalidad prematura.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"774\" src=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside7.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside7-596x384.jpg 596w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside7-768x495.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oceanrebellion.earth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Outside7-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2b06\ufe0f Regular la contaminaci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima es un trabajo hambriento, por desgracia los canap\u00e9s no salieron a la calle.<\/em><br>-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Necesitamos una normativa estricta sobre el metano en la OMI<\/strong><br>Seg\u00fan la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/report\/ar6\/syr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPCC (AR6)<\/a>Para hacer frente a la emergencia clim\u00e1tica y a sus devastadores efectos sobre las personas es necesario abordar urgentemente las emisiones de metano a corto plazo. Los defensores del GNL est\u00e1n enga\u00f1ando a los responsables pol\u00edticos sobre la magnitud real de sus impactos en el clima y la salud, al tiempo que ponen en peligro un futuro de supervivencia en este planeta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI) es el organismo de las Naciones Unidas que regula el transporte mar\u00edtimo internacional. <strong>En la actualidad, no existe ninguna normativa internacional espec\u00edfica para las emisiones de metano de los buques. <\/strong>Sin embargo, existen varias oportunidades para integrar ampliamente el metano en el marco regulador de la OMI durante el Comit\u00e9 de Protecci\u00f3n del Medio Marino (MEPC82).
