Los miembros de Ocean Rebellion llegaron a la bella Lisboa este fin de semana.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Lisboa acoge a delegados de la ONU y a (unos cuantos) l\u00edderes mundiales, seg\u00fan sus propias palabras:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

La Conferencia sobre los Oc\u00e9anos, copatrocinada por los Gobiernos de Kenia y Portugal, llega en un momento cr\u00edtico en el que el mundo est\u00e1 tratando de abordar muchos de los problemas profundamente arraigados de nuestras sociedades que la pandemia del COVID-19 ha puesto al descubierto y que requerir\u00e1n importantes transformaciones estructurales y soluciones comunes compartidas que est\u00e9n ancladas en los ODS. Para movilizar la acci\u00f3n, la Conferencia tratar\u00e1 de impulsar soluciones innovadoras basadas en la ciencia, muy necesarias para iniciar un nuevo cap\u00edtulo de la acci\u00f3n mundial sobre los oc\u00e9anos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Grandes ambiciones y un acr\u00f3nimo: ODS (Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible), pero \u00bfsirven realmente para algo?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u00bfY qu\u00e9 son las innovaciones basadas en la ciencia?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

La ONU cuenta con dos organismos que \"cuidan\" del Oc\u00e9ano de alguna manera. La Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI) y la Autoridad Internacional de los Fondos Marinos (AIFM). Y en lo que respecta a la pesca, la ONU ha creado el ODS 14, un compromiso voluntario que solo ofrece asesoramiento.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

La OMI y la AIS, cada una a su manera, est\u00e1n decididas a ayudar a la industria y el ODS 14 parece ser ignorado por completo, mientras la pesca industrial aumenta.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Una soluci\u00f3n sencilla a algunos de nuestros problemas de sobrepesca es prohibir la pesca de arrastre de fondo, en todo el mundo, hoy mismo. La maravillosa Sylvia Earle est\u00e1 totalmente de acuerdo.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
