In den letzten Monaten haben 10 oder mehr Kreuzfahrtschiffe die K\u00fcsten von South Devon angesteuert.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Colin Moore, einer der Aktivisten, sagte: \"Die meisten Menschen haben eine eher romantische Vorstellung von Kreuzfahrtschiffen, vielleicht aufgrund von Filmen wie der Titanic. Aber moderne Kreuzfahrtschiffe sind viel gr\u00f6\u00dfer, und die von ihnen verursachte Umweltverschmutzung kann schwerwiegende gesundheitliche Folgen haben. Es ist schon schlimm genug, dass der CO2-Fu\u00dfabdruck eines Menschen w\u00e4hrend einer Kreuzfahrt mindestens dreimal so hoch ist, aber was weniger bekannt ist, ist, dass die Abgase von Kreuzfahrtschiffen schlimmer sind als die Abgase einer ganzen Stadt\".<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Die Kreuzfahrtschiffe liegen aufgrund von Beschr\u00e4nkungen in der Bucht, wo sie vor den vorherrschenden Westwinden sicher ankern. Obwohl nur eine Notbesatzung an Bord ist, haben die Schiffe oft alle Lichter an und fahren h\u00e4ufig von Hafen zu Hafen, um ihre Abw\u00e4sser zu entl\u00fcften und die Motoren in Betrieb zu halten. Normalerweise leiten sie ihre Abw\u00e4sser direkt ins Meer ein, was au\u00dferhalb der Hoheitsgew\u00e4sser legal ist, obwohl eine solche Abwasserentsorgung zu gro\u00dfen giftigen Algenbl\u00fcten beitragen kann. Manchmal werden sie auch bei der Entsorgung innerhalb der 12-Meilen-Grenze erwischt, zahlen dann aber geringe Geldstrafen. Au\u00dferdem werfen sie h\u00e4ufig M\u00fcll und Treibstoff direkt ins Meer und schleppen ihre Anker bei starkem Wind, was den Meeresboden und damit den Lebensraum erheblich sch\u00e4digen kann. Die Marella Explorer 2, die zur TUI-Flotte geh\u00f6rt, verlor w\u00e4hrend des extremen Wetters im Januar ihren Anker in Torbay, und seitdem ist dies noch zwei weiteren Schiffen passiert. Dies wird nun untersucht.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Die Partikelbelastung durch das Schwer\u00f6l, das von einem einzigen Kreuzfahrtschiff als Treibstoff verwendet wird, soll so hoch sein wie eine Million Autos. Normalerweise wird dieses \u00d6l auf offener See entsorgt, aber wenn sich bis zu zehn dieser Schiffe in der N\u00e4he einer K\u00fcstenstadt wie Torbay befinden, ist mit einer Verschlechterung der Luftqualit\u00e4t zu rechnen, insbesondere bei leichten auflandigen Winden. Eines der gr\u00f6\u00dften Probleme sind die Stickoxidwerte, die mit einer h\u00f6heren Rate an Krebs- und Atemwegserkrankungen in Verbindung gebracht worden sind.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Es gibt einige Vorschriften, so dass die Kreuzfahrtindustrie \"W\u00e4scher\" oder Verbrennungsanlagen einsetzt, um ihren Treibstoff innerhalb der Normen zu halten, aber es hat sich herausgestellt, dass der Abfall in die Tiefsee verklappt wird, was zu weiteren Problemen wie der Versauerung der Ozeane beitr\u00e4gt. Vor kurzem hat Ocean Rebellion gefordert, dass die Schifffahrtsindustrie auf den saubereren Destillatkraftstoff umsteigt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Der Aktivist und Fotograf Chris Dance sagte: \"Wenn es diesem Land und der Welt ernst damit ist, den CO2-Fu\u00dfabdruck innerhalb sicherer Grenzen zu halten, sollten diese Kreuzfahrtschiffe am besten abgewrackt werden.
