DIE INTERNATIONALE MARITIME ORGANISATION DER UN (IMO)<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die IMO ignoriert weiterhin ihren UN-Auftrag, indem sie minimale Ziele f\u00fcr die \"Verh\u00fctung der Meeres- und Luftverschmutzung durch Schiffe\" festlegt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Indem die IMO Schiffen die Verbrennung von HFO erlaubt, erh\u00f6ht sie den Beitrag der Schifffahrt zu den CO2-Emissionen erheblich, anstatt ihn im Einklang mit dem Pariser Abkommen zu verringern. Au\u00dferdem f\u00e4llt schwarzer Kohlenstoff aus verbranntem HFO als Ru\u00df ab und f\u00fchrt dazu, dass die Eiskappen mehr W\u00e4rme aufnehmen und schmelzen, was die erschreckenden R\u00fcckkopplungsschleifen der planetarischen Erw\u00e4rmung, die unser aller Leben bedrohen, weiter beschleunigt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Schwarzer Kohlenstoff ist besonders gef\u00e4hrlich, wenn er von Schiffen in der Arktis ausgesto\u00dfen wird. Die IMO diskutiert seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt \u00fcber Vorschriften f\u00fcr schwarzen Kohlenstoff, und das Beste, was sie vorzuweisen hat, ist eine Verpflichtung zur freiwilligen Umstellung auf sauberere Kraftstoffe. Die Schifffahrtsindustrie hat bewiesen, dass sie nicht in der Lage ist, sich selbst zu regulieren, und setzt damit unz\u00e4hlige Menschenleben aufs Spiel. Es ist jetzt an der Zeit f\u00fcr eine verbindliche Regelung, um diese starke Quelle der Klimaerw\u00e4rmung zu bek\u00e4mpfen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Plastiknudeln und Geisterfischernetze<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Kunststoffnudeln und -pellets sind Produkte der petrochemischen Industrie, die in die ganze Welt verschifft werden und die Grundlage f\u00fcr alle Kunststoffprodukte bilden. Jedes Kunststoffprodukt, das Sie kaufen, beginnt sein Leben als Kunststoff-\"Nurdle\" oder Pellet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die Verschmutzung durch Plastiknudeln oder -pellets ist eine bedeutende Form der Mikroplastikverschmutzung der Meere. Ihre verheerende Wirkung zeigt sich bei gro\u00dfen Katastrophen wie der X-Press Pearl (2021)<\/a><\/strong> oder Trans Carrier (2020).<\/a><\/strong> Aber es gibt auch viele chronische Leckagen und Versch\u00fcttungen, die in jeder einzelnen Phase des Verschiffungsprozesses auftreten. Der Beweis f\u00fcr diese chronischen Leckagen ist der hohe Anteil an Pellets, der in Mikroplastikproben in H\u00e4fen gefunden wird.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Verlassene und verlorene Fischereiger\u00e4te, auch als Geisternetze bekannt, machen etwa 50% des Plastikm\u00fclls im gro\u00dfen pazifischen M\u00fcllstrudel und \u2153 des Meeresm\u00fclls in den europ\u00e4ischen Meeren aus. J\u00e4hrlich gehen sch\u00e4tzungsweise 5,7% aller Fischernetze, 8,6% aller Reusen und 29% aller Leinen in den Weltmeeren verloren, wo sie sich in der Meeresfauna verfangen und zu einem unn\u00f6tigen Verlust von Meereslebewesen, einschlie\u00dflich gesch\u00fctzter Arten, f\u00fchren.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Schmutzige Kohlew\u00e4scher<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die IMO betreibt nicht nur Greenwashing in der Kunststoffindustrie, sondern schl\u00e4gt auch so genannte \"Scrubber\" f\u00fcr Schiffe vor, die dasselbe tun sollen. Diese W\u00e4scher verhindern, dass die schlimmsten Schadstoffe aus HFO in die Atmosph\u00e4re gelangen: Das ist doch gut, oder? Nicht, wenn der Scrubber das HFO in eine saure L\u00f6sung umwandelt und diese in den Ozean pumpt. Anstatt also die Luft zu verschmutzen, will die IMO nun das Meer verschmutzen - das ist sicherlich die Definition von Greenwash!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Fl\u00fcssigerdgas, die Fakten<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

LNG ist ein fossiler Brennstoff, der bei der Verbrennung als Schiffskraftstoff Methan in die Atmosph\u00e4re entweichen l\u00e4sst - ein gef\u00e4hrliches Gas, das die globale Erw\u00e4rmung beschleunigt. 80-mal mehr Klimaerw\u00e4rmung<\/a><\/strong> kurzfristig als Kohlendioxid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Der Zwischenstaatliche Ausschuss f\u00fcr Klima\u00e4nderungen der UN (IPCC) identifiziert<\/a><\/strong> rasche Senkung der Methanemissionen als eine der obersten Priorit\u00e4ten, um die globale Erw\u00e4rmung so weit wie m\u00f6glich auf 1,5\u00b0C zu begrenzen. Die Der letzte Bericht des IPCC<\/a><\/strong> Die Konzentration auf den Klimaschutz macht deutlich, dass fossiles Gas in Form von LNG keine L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr die Dekarbonisierung der Schifffahrt ist.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Entgegen den Aussagen der Klimawissenschaft haben die Schifffahrts- und Hafenunternehmen umfangreiche Investitionen in fossiles LNG<\/a><\/strong> in den letzten Jahren mit dem Argument, dass der Treibstoff die Umwelt- und Klimabelastung verringern wird. Derzeit sind weltweit \u00fcber 785 neue Frachtschiffe in Auftrag gegeben, von denen \u00fcber 400 f\u00fcr den Betrieb mit fossilem LNG gebaut werden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die Verbrennung von mehr fossilem LNG an Bord von Schiffen ist f\u00fcr unseren Planeten eine Katastrophe, die sich anbahnt. Es w\u00fcrde nur die Methanemissionen von Schiffen erh\u00f6hen, die bereits stieg zwischen 2012 und 2018 um 150%,<\/a><\/strong> so die Internationale Seeschifffahrtsorganisation der UN (IMO). Wenn die IMO dies selbst sagt, warum erlaubt sie dann der Schifffahrt, auf LNG umzusteigen?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NUR DAS HANDELN Z\u00c4HLT<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die IMO muss aufh\u00f6ren, im Namen der Reedereien zu handeln. Indem sie die Umweltverschmutzung immer wieder auf die lange Bank geschoben hat (und dabei wissenschaftliche Beweise gegen den Einsatz von Greenwash-Technologien wie Fl\u00fcssigerdgas und Kohlenstoffw\u00e4scher ignorierte), hat sie sich als untauglich erwiesen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ist es angesichts des Scheiterns eines Abkommens zum Schutz der Hohen See (oder der Wahrscheinlichkeit eines Abkommens, das die Hohe See mit Sicherheit nicht sch\u00fctzen wird) nicht an der Zeit, dass die UNO ihre kollektiven H\u00e4nde in die Luft streckt und erkl\u00e4rt: \"Das funktioniert nicht\"? Es ist sch\u00f6n und gut, wenn die UNO Erkl\u00e4rungen wie \"Brandstiftung an unserer einzigen Heimat\" abgibt, aber Gerede ist billig. Beenden Sie das sinnlose Gerede und die geopolitischen Spielchen, sagen Sie die Wahrheit, setzen Sie sich neu zusammen und beginnen Sie mit echten Ver\u00e4nderungen. Nennen Sie die Unternehmen und Regierungen, die die Rettung des Ozeans behindern, und benennen Sie die Auswirkungen dessen, was sie zu erreichen versuchen. Wir brauchen den Ozean, um wieder aufbl\u00fchen zu k\u00f6nnen, denn wenn das Meer stirbt, sterben auch wir.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ocean Rebellion fordert:<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die UNO muss ein neues, transparentes und repr\u00e4sentatives Gremium bilden, das den Ozean zum Wohle ALLEN Lebens verwaltet. Dieses neue Gremium muss die Wiederherstellung und Wiederauff\u00fcllung des Ozeans als einzigen Ma\u00dfstab f\u00fcr den Erfolg haben. Sie sollte die Macht der Unternehmen durch die Macht der Menschen ersetzen. Und es sollte die vielen Arten von Meereslebewesen vertreten, die den Ozean tats\u00e4chlich zu ihrer Heimat machen.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ocean Rebellion\" hat die IMO mehrmals besucht, jedes Mal mit einem anderen Thema, das aber alle mit Missmanagement und fossilen Brennstoffen zu tun haben. Das erste Mal war es Wakashio, die \u00d6lkatastrophe, die die K\u00fcste von Mauritius dezimierte. Dann ging es um die Lobbyarbeit f\u00fcr fossile Brennstoffe, die Verbindungen zur Baltic Exchange und gef\u00e4lschte Schifffahrtsgesetze. Das n\u00e4chste Mal waren es HFO und die Insider-Beeinflussung durch aktuelle Vertreter wie \"Captain Ian Finlay\". Es geht immer so weiter - die IMO ist nutzlos, wozu gibt es sie? Sie sch\u00fctzt nicht einmal die Seeleute, sondern sorgt nur daf\u00fcr, dass die Schifffahrt Gewinne einf\u00e4hrt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Suzanne Stallard f\u00fcgt hinzu:<\/strong>
\"Die UNO redet gro\u00dfe T\u00f6ne. Die Internationale Seeschifffahrtsorganisation und die Internationale Meeresbodenbeh\u00f6rde, beides UN-Gremien, sind untauglich. Beide sind von der Industrie v\u00f6llig korrumpiert, und beide verwalten den Ozean im Auftrag der Industrie. Wir leben in einem Zeitalter des beispiellosen \u00f6kologischen Zusammenbruchs, und die UNO muss dies nicht nur mit Worten, sondern auch mit ihrem Handeln anerkennen. Wir fordern die UNO auf, ihre abtr\u00fcnnigen Tochtergesellschaften, die f\u00fcr das Leben auf der Erde sch\u00e4dlicher sind als abtr\u00fcnnige Staaten, zur\u00fcckzurufen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
