Mitglieder von Ocean Rebellion sind am Wochenende im sch\u00f6nen Lissabon angekommen.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Lissabon beherbergt UN-Delegierte und (einige) Staatsoberh\u00e4upter der Welt, wie es hei\u00dft:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die von den Regierungen Kenias und Portugals gemeinsam ausgerichtete Ozean-Konferenz findet zu einem kritischen Zeitpunkt statt, da die Welt versucht, viele der tief verwurzelten Probleme unserer Gesellschaften anzugehen, die durch die COVID-19-Pandemie zutage getreten sind und die gro\u00dfe strukturelle Ver\u00e4nderungen und gemeinsame L\u00f6sungen erfordern, die in den SDGs verankert sind. Um Ma\u00dfnahmen zu mobilisieren, wird die Konferenz versuchen, die dringend ben\u00f6tigten wissenschaftsbasierten innovativen L\u00f6sungen voranzutreiben, die darauf abzielen, ein neues Kapitel globaler Meeresma\u00dfnahmen aufzuschlagen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Gro\u00dfe Ambitionen und ein Akronym - SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, aber bringt das wirklich etwas?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Und was sind wissenschaftsbasierte Innovationen?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Die UNO hat zwei Organisationen, die sich beide in gewisser Weise um den Ozean \"k\u00fcmmern\". Die Internationale Seeschifffahrtsorganisation (IMO) und die Internationale Meeresbodenbeh\u00f6rde (ISA). Und was die Fischerei betrifft, so hat die UNO das SDG 14 ins Leben gerufen - eine freiwillige Verpflichtung, die lediglich Beratung bietet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sowohl die IMO als auch die ISA sind auf ihre Weise bestrebt, die Industrie zu unterst\u00fctzen, und das SDG 14 scheint angesichts der zunehmenden industriellen Fischerei v\u00f6llig ignoriert zu werden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Eine einfache L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr einige unserer \u00dcberfischungsprobleme w\u00e4re ein weltweites Verbot der Grundschleppnetzfischerei, und zwar noch heute. Die wunderbare Sylvia Earle stimmt dem sicherlich zu.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
